The
Electric Chairs continued to tour, and in September 77 they eventually
signed to SAFARI RECORDS ending a long spell of music business caution
and indifference, possibly due to the nature of Wayne/Jayne and
the band, or a lack of a sense of humour. In November 77 the band
released the tongue in cheek classic F**K OFF/ON THE CREST
7 inch single on SWEET F.A. RECORDS which was actually a SAFARI
RECORDS production.

To
promote the album and single, the band embarked on the intensive, EDDIE
& SHEENA U.K. TOUR, through January 1978 and for the whole of
March 1978, playing venues of diverse shapes and sizes with the grand
finale on the last night of the tour at the MUSIC MACHINE,
now called THE CAMDEN PALACE in London.
Around
this time, after the recording and release of Eddie & Sheena and the first
album, former THE
POLICE guitarist, HENRI PADOVANI, joined the band
which continued to tour as a five piece.
Then
unfortunately, founder member GREG VAN COOK, had to leave the band which
seriously changed the musical chemistry of the Chairs, being replaced
by ELLIOT MICHAELS from Brooklyn, New York. Elliot was a former BACKSTREET
BOY'S member, along with GREG VAN COOK, which was WAYNES former band back
in New York, around 1974- 1975
